MyIX Strengthens Role As Southeast Asia’s Digital Hub with New Members

The Malaysia Internet Exchange (MyIX) continues to strengthen its position as a key player in Southeast Asia’s digital landscape, welcoming GlobalXtreme from Indonesia and Byteplus Pte Ltd as new members. GlobalXtreme, a leading Indonesian Internet Service Provider, and Byteplus, an Over-The-Top provider, bring MyIX’s membership total to 125.

Established under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, MyIX enhances local and regional data routing, improving speed, reliability, and cost-effectiveness for its members. The exchange’s growing ecosystem amplifies the value for all participants through a ‘network effect’, where each new member strengthens the overall service.

The chairman of MyIX Chiew Kok Hin expressed that these new partnerships reinforce Malaysia’s role as a digital hub in Southeast Asia and highlighted MyIX’s contribution to the nation’s goal of having the digital economy contribute 25.5% of gross domestic product by 2025.

In addition, MyIX has lowered its port fees by 10% to 20%, making access more affordable for members. The organisation also recently concluded its second Talent Development Programme, equipping graduates and early-career professionals with critical skills in internet infrastructure and cybersecurity.

As international networks continue to join, MyIX remains committed to fostering a thriving digital ecosystem and supporting Malaysia’s digital economy ambitions.
