AirAsia is taking to the sky in an unprecedented way, the airlines is adding more flights to destinations it already is plying due to overwhelming demand, things are looking up for the airline which was only lamenting of dire situations just a month ago. It seems Malaysians have pent up interest to travel again and are taking their vengeance on AirAsia.
The Low Cost Carrier has now confirmed that routes to Langkawi, Kuching and Kota KInabalu will be increased including Johor to Kuching and Penang, this is to cater for the additional bookings it has been receiving ever since RMCO. According to Chief Executive Officer Riad Asmat, “we have been getting a lot of bookings since the opening and will monitor the requests, if need to increase flights when necessary to the other destinations we fly”.
Domestic travel is the first to kick-off for airlines, as overseas flights are still under review, with borders closed company’s like AirAsia need to get planes of the ground. For now the best approach is getting Malaysians to fly again within the country. In view of this, the airline has been innovative by offering special travel passes, stay vacation packages combined with hotel rooms and slew of other promotions. A new platform was also developed giving customers options that promises low room rates, SNAP as its called aims to be a one-stop centre for travelers to book flight and rooms without worrying of being overcharged.
On worries of flying during Covid-19, the airline has taken precautionary measures in accordance with the industry’s highest body guidelines, IATA has assured the risk of infection during flight is minimal as long as all the SOP’s are followed.
