CES 2018: Razer Reveals ‘Project Linda’

This isn’t Razer’s first CES rodeo, and it will not be its last. During CES 2017, Razer introduced Project Ariana and Project Valerie, the latter of which was stolen just days later. Razer is back at CES 2018 with Project Linda, its latest pet project, which is a hybrid gaming laptop that ties in with the Razer Phone.

Project Linda isn’t your everyday, run-of-the-mill gaming laptop, although it does resemble the aesthetics of previous Razer Blade gaming laptops. The Razer Phone plays a pivotal role as it is what powers the laptop. By placing the Razer phone on the dock of the Project Linda shell, you are essentially mirroring the display of what you have on the phone onto a bigger screen with a physical keyboard.

This is a hybrid concept and Razer is no stranger to causing a huge wave of attention coming its way, especially during CES. As the Razer Phone houses a Snapdragon 835 SoC with 8GB of RAM, it promises to keep Project Linda in tip-top shape, instantly transforming her into an Android laptop.

Aside from being the main power source for the laptop, the Razer Phone also acts as a touchpad as well as a second display screen. You can also use the Razer Phone for other apps while still running on the Project Linda shell.

As for Project Linda, she carries a 13.3-inch Quad HD touch display, a full-size keyboard (yes, with Razer Chroma) and 200GB of internal storage. An added feature to Project Linda – it also acts as a charger for the Razer Phone when its docked. In terms of connectivity, Project Linda features a USB-A port, a USB-C charging port and a 3.5mm audio jack. There is also a 720p webcam and a dual-array microphones because video calling on your smartphone is just never enough.

With Project Ariana, Valerie and even Christine still in its concept phase, it may take some time before we see Project Linda in stores. Of course, this hasn’t stopped Razer from unleashing great products time and time again.
