After multiple delays to The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Worldwide Studios have announced the (hopefully) final release dates for the games on PS4. More surprising to me however, is The Last of Us Part II making an appearance on the PS4, considering the last delay was ‘indefinite’. I was convinced they would be delaying it, to then release it on the PS5 when it releases Holidays this year.
But now, Sony has announced that The Last of Us Part II will arrive on June 19, with Ghost of Tsushima following on July 17 for the PlayStation 4.
“I want to personally congratulate and thank both the teams at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions on their achievements, as we know it’s not an easy feat to reach the finish line under these circumstances. Both teams have worked hard to deliver world-class experiences, and we can’t wait to see what you think of them when they release in just a few short months.” said Hermen Hulst, Head of World Wide Studies, SIE.
“And finally, I want to thank the PlayStation Community for their continuous support and patience.” Hulst concludes.
Of course, this is great news considering the current situation we’re in. Great games soon? How could I complain. But hopefully this will be the final release dates for these games following a tumultuous development cycle. Tbh, I’m just glad the games are coming for PS4 so I can play it, because who knows how much the PS5 is going to cost.
