According to a new report by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Apple has decided to delay the mass production of their next iPhone 12 by about a month. People who are familiar with the matter told WSJ that the delay was in part a response to lowered global consumer demand of mobile devices and disrupted product manufacturing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But even with the delay, the sources told WSJ that Apple is still expected to launch four new iPhone 12 models this year. They will also reportedly be 5G connectivity capable, which has been rumoured extensively as of late. Apple haven’t yet introduced an iPhone with 5G, so it’s interesting to see if there’ll be a markup in the price for it.

However, the report also mentioned Apple has cut build estimates for the second half of 2020 by 20 percent. So essentially, we could see a lesser stock of iPhone 12 models when it releases later in the year. They typically announce their devices in September, and open up sales the next month. But if report from WSJ is accurate, we could see the iPhone 12 lineup going on sale in end of October or November.

This could pan out well for them being so close to the holidays, and I mean, who wouldn’t want a new iPhone for Christmas? But of course, we’ll still have to see how the global health crisis pans out by then.
