Donald Trump has had quite a week. It seems that the longer this coronavirus pandemic goes on, the further away from reality the US president seems to be. First, he kept insisting that the US is on top of the coronavirus pandemic, then he suggested injecting household disinfectants. Now? He’s gone on a rant against journalists, and in the process exposed just how misinformed he really is.
The president, in his infinite wisdom decided to fire shots at journalists over their coverage of the Russian investigation, and what better platform to do so than his most iconic one yet, Twitter.
Believe it or not, Trump actually tweeted that journalists should all return their “Noble prizes” for their reporting on Russia. Yup. NOBLE prizes. Of course, he swiftly deleted the tweets, but what goes up on the internet, stays on the internet and screenshots captured his rant in full:

“When will all of the “reporters” who have received Noble Prizes for their work on Russia, Russia, Russia, only to have been proven totally wrong (and, in fact, it was the other side who committed the crimes) be turning back their cherished “Nobles” so that they can be given to the REAL REPORTERS & JOURNALISTS who got it right.”
US president Donald J Trump
Hahahahahahahaahahaha. Not only does this guy think that the Nobel Prize is spelt as the “Noble ” Prize, but he also thinks that it’s awarded for journalism. Mr Trump, the Nobel Prize is awarded for excellence in the field of literature, physics, peace, economics, chemistry and medicine. What you meant to say is the Pulitzer Prize, which is in fact awarded to journalists.
It’s safe to say that last year’s report in Rolling Stone about how Trump asked Japanese PM Shinzo Abe to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts at negotiating with North Korea do seem to carry a lot more weight now.
As you’d expect, Trump tried to get on top of the situation. He later tweeted:
“Does anybody get the meaning of what a so-called Noble (not Nobel) Prize is, especially as it pertains to Reporters and Journalists? Noble is defined as, “having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideals.” Does sarcasm ever work?”
Yes, this is in fact the same excuse he used when he suggested to Americans that injecting themselves with household disinfectant might be a treatment for the coronavirus. I don’t think you need to be a medical practitioner to know that injecting yourself with something that’s clearly meant to stay outside your body is not a good idea.
Remarks like this should hardly be surprising coming from someone like Donald Trump but twice in just a matter of days now? Mr President, you’re going off the rails! What will he say next? Stay tuned to find out!
