The CW Unveils Upcoming Broadcast Schedule; The Swamp Thing To Release This Fall

The CW recently announced its upcoming broadcast schedule that sees a major shift due to the ongoing pandemic.

Most of The CW’s TV shows will now have its next season start in January 2021. Usually, new seasons will air in October, though the pandemic has made the change inevitable.

As the pandemic continues to affect the industry, this is perhaps the only way for the TV network to respond to the issue. However, even that may change should the situation continue to grow worse.

Episodes that could not be filmed for some shows, like The Flash, will have those planned episodes air at the start of its new season instead.

Some shows that have been confirmed to air in January 2021 on The CW include shows from the Arrowverse, like Batwoman, Black Lightning, The Flash, as well as newcomer Superman & Lois.

Other shows, like All American, Riverdale, and Nancy Drew will also be airing its new season in January 2021.

However, shows like Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, and In The Dark will air in mid-season instead.

Of particular interest is The Swamp Thing, which The CW picked up after it was cancelled by DC Universe. The TV network confirmed that it will be airing its first season in fall 2020.

The Swamp Thing went through a baffling experience after airing its first episode. Though it received great reviews, the show was cancelled abruptly with no explanation whatsoever.

Despite the cancellation, the show continued to stream all ten episodes of its season on DC Universe’s streaming platform.

The CW picking up The Swamp Thing led many to hope for the show’s revival, though the network says that it’ll only be broadcasting its first season.

However, The CW President, Mark Pedowitz, did not rule out the possibility of a second season. If anything happens, it will be a discussion with Warner Bros. and The CW.

As for us here in Malaysia, hopefully Astro channel 712 (Warner TV) will air The Swamp Thing the same time The CW airs it. Maybe one day, it’ll pop up on Netflix too, though I won’t expect that any time soon.
