Telegram Messenger, known by many to be one of the easiest communication tools that can be used to share pictures, videos and chats has surpassed 100 million monthly active users. The service, which started a little over 2 and the half years ago, now generates up to 15 billion, yes BILLION messages everyday with 350,000 new users sign up daily.
Telegram allows users to join in group chats that covers various topics from education to lifestyle. It engages the young 18-28 year old adults to use its services. Its services are available on all platforms from smartphone and desktop systems. Telegram also provides a self-destruct encrypted message which allows users to send secret messages that will destruct over time.
Similar to services like Wechat or WhatsApp, Telegram accounts are tied to telephone numbers and are verified by sms or phone call which ensures users get advanced security screening. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has listed Telegram to be on its “Secure Messaging Scorecard” last December.
