Spooktober: Horror Animated Movies You Should Watch This Halloween

Since we don’t really celebrate Halloween like some countries around the world, I have my own way to celebrate that particular “holiday”. As some of you may know, I’m a big horror fan so I love to watch horror movies and every Halloween, I will have a marathon of horror movies.

But I know that some of you may not be a fan of horror or dark, creepy things but if you still wanna join in the spooky fun, then maybe you can watch some horror animation. These animations aren’t really scary cause they’re mainly for kids but I personally enjoy them as an adult.

They may not be scary but the dark, creepy elements and good story telling are perfect for a more family friendly Halloween movie night. So here is a list of “horror” animation you should watch this Halloween:

The Nightmare Before Christmas

I watch this every Halloween and Christmas. A classic Tim Burton movie that tells the story of Jack Skellington, the King of “Halloween Town” who stumbles through a portal to “Christmas Town” and becomes obsessed with celebrating the holiday. Did I mention it’s a musical? What more could you possibly ask for?

Coraline

Okay, this one did scared me a little. For a children’s movie, the movie was kinda dark. I was expecting something that was a Tim Burton-ish and a little family friendly (I mean it still kinda is) but it’s messed up too.

The movie is about a girl named Coraline finding an idealised parallel world behind a secret door in her new home, unaware that the alternative world contains a dark and sinister secret. There’s a lot of mystery to uncover everytime you watch the movie and there’s plenty of theory videos on YouTube.

Monster House

Monster House is a fun movie to watch with the family. The movie is about a neighbourhood being terrorised by a sentient haunted house during Halloween. The plot has a tragic back story, funny moments and the chase scene definitely got me feeling anxious for the characters.

Perfect Blue

The movie follows Mima Kirigoe, a member of a Japanese idol group, who retires from music to pursue an acting career. As she becomes a victim of stalking, gruesome murders begin to occur, and Mima starts to lose her grip on reality.

So that is all for this list, I hope you guys will have a good time watching these movies. What movies do you think should be on this list? Share us your recommendations in the comments below!
