Spider-Man PS4 Has Highest Platinum Trophy Completion for an Exclusive

It looks like Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 isn’t just setting records in sales. Insomniac Games’ take on the web-slinger has had such a positive impact that many fans are eagerly vying for its Platinum trophy.

User Certinfy from ResetEra mentioned that the Platinum trophy percentage amongst owners of the title is unusually high. Currently, the completion rate sits at 10%, which beats out many of the PlayStation 4’s other exclusives by a wide margin. PlayStation Lifestyle provided a list for comparison:

  • Horizon Zero Dawn – 6.1%
  • Infamous: Second Son – 5.8%
  • Bloodborne – 5.6%
  • God of War – 5.5%
  • Gravity Rush 2 – 5.0%
  • Yakuza 6: The Song of Life – 3.3%
  • Until Dawn – 2.9%
  • Persona 5 – 2.4%
  • Detroit: Become Human – 2.1%
  • Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) – 1.6%
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – 0.8%
  • The Last Guardian – 0.4%

What also makes this interesting is the fact that Spider-Man is a through and through open-world game. This means that attaining a 100% completion rate in the game requires a huge time investment, with many users clocking in at roughly 15 hours for the main story alone.

The fact that players are willing to put in the effort here potentially signifies how much they love swinging through New York as the web-head. Indeed, the game isn’t short of side content, requiring you to stop crimes, save the environment, chase down pigeons, snap photos of landmarks and more for that Platinum.

Post-game DLC content

More Spider-Man content is on the way throughout the rest of the year, starting with a DLC chapter this month featuring Black Cat.

Here’s a release window for the game’s DLC series, called The City That Never Sleeps:

  • 23rd October – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist
  • November – Marvel’s Spider-Man: Turf Wars
  • December – Marvel’s Spider-Man: Silver Lining
