Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 is now the fastest-selling PlayStation exclusive. Sony told USA Today that the game sold over 3.3 million units in just the first three days of release. This beats out God of War by a huge margin, which released back in May and sold over 3.1 million globally.
With the title’s $60 (RM249) price tag, the game could be estimated to have made $198 million (RM820 million) already. This means that the game’s launch has beaten Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Homecoming, which accrued $117 million (RM485 million) at the box office.
Sony includes the sales of its $399.99 (RM1658) Spider-Man PlayStation 4 Pro bundle as part of its count of 3.3 million total copies. Though the company did not provide a number, it’s safe to say that this pushes the revenue estimation even higher.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is the latest take of the titular superhero in a video game. Developed by Insomniac Games, the game lets you explore the urban jungle of New York as the webhead, as well as stop crime with his improvisational style of combat. Review scores and sales numbers suggest that this is the best game adaptation of the web-slinger to date.
