Sonic the Hedgehog Will be Getting His Own Sneaker Line with Puma

Everyone’s favourite hedgehog will soon be getting his very own sneaker collaboration with none other than Puma, which is expected to release sometime in June 2018. This wouldn’t be the first time a sneaker brand collaborates with pop culture icons with Adidas pairing up with Dragon Ball Z.

Debuting as a video game series back in 1991 thanks to Sega, Sonic the Hedgehog has steadily become a pop culture icon since its inception. Transcending its video game platform, Sonic the Hedgehog also had its very own television series alongside a movie franchise.

Puma will be incorporating Sonic the Hedgehog into its Puma RS model, which was first released back in the 1980s. The Puma RS featured tech-savvy innovations of its time that is meant to improve a runner’s overall performance. Slated for a comeback this summer, the signature sneaker will be known as SEGA x Puma RS-0 Sonic.

This collaboration makes sense as Sonic is known to being extremely fast while the RS in the Puma RS stands for “Running Series”. You can peak the upcoming collaboration through the video below, posted by the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel.

While the video does show a pixelated version of the upcoming silhouette, it does feature Sonic’s signature blue colour to go along with his skin. Unfortunately, there are no updates as to whether there will be a red/white colourway in the making, which is what he is known to wear.
