Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Is Here And It Doesn’t Dissapoint

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S20, their latesy series of flagship devices that have leaked extensively in the weeks leading up to the reveal. At this point, there isn’t a lot we don’t know about the device, but now that it’s officially here, we kinda have to talk about it.

The main theme of the new and improved S20 Lineup is their cameras. That’s apparent about the way they’ve presented their offerings thus far. The Galaxy S20 series introduces a brand-new camera architecture which combines AI with Samsung’s largest image sensor till date. But more on that later.

This time around, the leaks have been correct and we’ve got three variations of the S20 series: The Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra.

5G Connectivity

“As we enter this new decade, 5G will completely change how we communicate and how we experience the world around us,” said Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “As all three Galaxy S20 variants come with 5G connectivity, Samsung is providing a next-generation device for transforming people’s lives. With an incredible, AI powered camera, you can capture the moments as they happen and connect more seamlessly with the people you love.”

Another mainstay for the devices, as you could’ve guessed it, is 5G. Every device in the Galaxy S20 series comes equipped with the latest 5G tech. The S20+ and S20 Ultra however are the first devices to take advantage of sub-6 and mmWave. The S20 however only supports sub-6.

Camera Capabilities

Now, on to the main course, the cameras. Like I mentioned previously, the new cameras on the Galaxy S20 is a new camera system powered by AI and combined with their biggest image sensor yet.

The S20 and S20+ have a 64MP main telephoto lens while the S20 Ultra is equipped with a 108MP wide angle lens. They’re reportedly better at taking rich image quality pictures in low light, because of the larger sensors.

The S20 Ultra also added on an option to shift dynamically between the high res 108MP mode and 12MP mode, thanks to their non-binning technology. The S20 also has some new technology called Space Zoom, which is a combination of Hybrid Optic Soon and Super Resolution Soon. This includes an AI-powered digital zoom, making the S20 and S20+ capable of a 30x zoom.

The S20 Ultra though, is on a whole other level as it has a 100x zoom which is powered by their folded lenses. These lenses use AI powered multi-image processing to reduce quality loss at high zoom levels to enhance the Super Resolution Zoom.

Oh, they’re also capable of shooting 8K video btw.

The Rest

Some of the other specs that manke the S20 Lineup a beats is the 120Hz display, a base 12GB of RAM on all variants (except the LTE versions), audio by AKG, and One UI 2. They also will all have a OLED HDR+ displays in varying screen sizes ranging from the S20’s 6.2-inch, S20+’s 6.7-inch and S20 Ultra’s 6.9-inch display.

The S20 features a 25W fast charging with the S20’s 4000mAh and S20+’s 4500mAh battery. The S20 Ultra comes with 45W Super Fast charging and a massive 5000mAh battery.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, they all feature the same processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC but the Malaysian launch will probably feature an Exynos equivalent.
