Samsung’s Galaxy Buds+ has also been unveiled along with the Samsung Galaxy S20 series, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, and to nobody’s surprise, the leaks were pretty on point. The Buds+, I feel, was the most ignored part of Samsung’s Unpacked event, especially as it was released alongside the S20 lineup and the Z Flip.

The Galaxy Buds+ feature sound by AKG, and 2-way speakers which theoretically should help audio fidelity in comparison to the previous gen. They’ve also added in 3 mics, which Samsung claim make for better voice call performance. Something I’ve noticed with the wireless earbuds I’ve used, is that calling on them really isn’t a good time. Most of the time the person on the other line can’t even hear me, so hopefully the Buds+ doesn’t have that problem.

And now to arguably the biggest selling point of wireless earbuds: battery life. The previous version of the Galaxy Buds featured a 6 hour battery life on a single charge, and the Buds+ now boasts a whopping 11 hours on a single charge. That added to the 11 hours worth of charge in the case makes for some pretty long jam sessions. The Buds+ also feature USB-C charging on the case, and they claim that a 3 minute charge would last you an hour of play time.

Besides that, they’ve added some quality of life improvements to the Buds+, like a shortcut button on the Buds+ themselves that launches Spotify on your phone. Just press and hold the left earbud to start listening.

While it’s got all these improvements, there’s still one glaring feature the Buds+ are missing: Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). It’s a shame that they’re missing out, but that’s also probably why they cost marginally lesser than the competitors out there. But still, it’s a missing feature regardless.

The Galaxy Buds+ are priced at $149 (RM~615) and will come in black, white, and blue colours. No information on Malaysian availability, but we’ll keep you posted.
