As part of the rotational process, Samsung has replaced current President Lee Sang Hoon  with former China Head of IT and Mobile, Mr Yoonsoo Kim as the new lead for Malaysia. In his new role as the head of Samsung’s Malaysian arm, Mr. Kim will be responsible for leading the company’s business strategies and operations.

A highly professional, dynamic and influential leader, Mr. Kim has spent the last 19 years serving Samsung in various markets, with his most recent post being the Head of IT and Mobile of Samsung China’s Product Marketing division.

Mr. Kim’s professional journey in Samsung began in 1998 where he assumed responsibilities in Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Business in Europe. The start of his second decade saw him serve as the IT and Mobile Division Head in Samsung Electronics Indonesia and President of Samsung Electronics Kazakhstan, before his move to China.

Mr. Kim received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona.

His immediate task will be to see the upcoming launch of Galaxy S9 in the first quarter of 2018 and to strengthen the sales position of its flagship smartphones from the likes of Apple and Huawei, both of which have taken a bite from the android leader.
