Samsung is in on the leaking strategy as details on the Samsung Galaxy S9 getting major camera updates have surfaced. This is direct confirmation from the Korean electronics giant as the details are up on its own website.
The global media invite for Samsung Galaxy S9 Unpacked, itself, points to that critical fact. The text – ‘The Camera Reimagined’ – is a dead giveaway.
Even if there are no further details, information on the brand-new camera sensors can potentially shed some light.
It’s a no-brainer that Samsung will tap on its semiconductor arm for these new camera sensors. Just like how it would pull new AMOLED panels from the Samsung Display Group.
According to Samsung Semiconductor, the new mobile image sensor – called Samsung ISOCELL – introduces a number of innovations. Among them are even more vivid photos as well as faster auto-focus with Dual Pixel and Super Phase Detection.
The Samsung ISOCELL comes in three flavours. Each – ISOCELL Slim, Fast and Bright – offer specific functions.
With ISOCELL Slim uses an ultra-thin design, 0.9um to be exact. Even at that size, it promises the very best in picture quality. As for ISOCELL Bright, it promises the perfect shots in low-light, thanks to the Tetracell and Smart WDR technologies it uses.
The ISOCELL Fast sensor uses the new Dual Pixel and Super Phase Detection features to capture fast moving subjects. It also uses a 3-Stack Fast Readout system to enable high-speed captures at Full HD.
Not listed as a specific offering is the ISOCELL Dual. This matches some of the next-gen features, like Optical Zoom, Low-Light, and Depth Sensing, together.
While these sensors are likely to be a main feature on the Samsung Galaxy S9, confirmation is only available at the main event.
