Samsung has been touting about having the best screens on its flagship Galaxy smartphones for some time now, and having been the first to introduce OLED display on the S8 series, the difference compared to its rivals was very obvious.
With Galaxy S9 just minted and off the production line, the screen test specialists DisplayMate Technologies have christened the display on the latest flagship to be the best performing smartphone display that they have ever tested giving it an “Excellent A+” grade.
Buyers of the S9 will be disappointed to know that Samsung has used the same 3K Quad HD+ OLED Infinity Display it used in S8 for the new phones, however the difference is the 5.8 inch model now optimises elements within the device to peak its performance in color accuracy, brightness, outdoor visibility and reflectivity. Bringing close to perfect colour reproduction of what actually is being viewed.
In Cinema Mode, the Galaxy S9 has been rated to 0.7 JNCD, a measurement that refers to the bare minimum color difference that the human eye can perceive. The display’s peak brightness of 1,130 nits is approximately 10.7 percent brighter than that of the Galaxy S8. DisplayMate’s evaluation has also found that the display’s screen reflectance level is just 4.4 percent, which is the lowest that the firm has ever measured in a smartphone.
Having being certified by the UHD Alliance for Mobile HDR Premium, it means that the Galaxy S9 is capable of playing the same dynamic 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) content as 4K UHD premium TVs.
