Mobile gaming has increased in popularity over the years, thanks to the billions of mobile devices around the world. Smartphone and tablet manufacturers are following this growing industry closely, with many devices geared towards the mobile gaming community.

In a special joint report, App Annie and IDC reveal that direct spending on mobile games exceeded the combined spending total on home console, PC/Mac and handheld console games by more than one third in 2017. Danielle Levitas, SVP of Research at App Annie shares: “…. apps are the mass market gaming platform for casual and serious gamers, enabling them to play whenever and wherever they want to.”
It is not surprising that even phablets like the Samsung Galaxy Note9 are following suit in addressing the mobile gaming trend. In the Global Samsung Unpacked event, the brand explicitly highlighted that the newly launched Galaxy Note9 to be a mobile gaming device.
Internally, the device is kitted with a super powerful, cutting-edge 10nm processor, the Samsung Exynos 9810, with support for the fastest network speeds of up to 1.2 gigabits per second. The latter allows Galaxy Note9 to stream and download without slowing down – a feature that is equally as important when you are mid-game.
Samsung has also developed its Water Carbon cooling system and an on-device AI-based performance adjusting algorithm to deliver powerful yet stable performance.
With mobile games becoming more and more graphic and performance heavy, the devices that could support them should be well equipped to provide a seamless and smooth gaming experience. Depending on the storage option – either 128GB or 512GB – the Galaxy Note9 comes with a substantial 6GB or 8GB of RAM respectively.
The cornerstone of Samsung’s design heritage, the Infinity Display adds to the whole gaming experience on the Galaxy Note9. The massive 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display provides a truly immersive multimedia experience. This is thanks to it being the largest edge-to-edge display ever on a Note. Its display is further complemented by its AKG-tuned stereo speakers.

Owners of Samsung Galaxy devices received first dibs to the Fortnite Android Beta, which was also announced during Unpacked. The move is very much in reflection of App Annie and IDC’s report, which also highlights that battle royale games have become increasingly popular on mobile devices.
