Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Pre-Orders Open in Malaysia, Price Starting from RM3,699

The saying big is beautiful holds true for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9, which finally made its official debut yesterday at the annual Samsung Global Unpacked event. The global brand pulled out all the stops in making the global unveiling a spectacular show. Even for us watching the live telecast in Malaysia, the theatrics was awe-inspiring.

Confirming that most, if not all, of the rumours we’ve heard regarding the device the last few months, the Galaxy Note series is back with a bigger and better product proposition, while promising maximised performance.

The Galaxy Note 9 sports a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display to deliver an immersive multimedia experience. A notable upgrade for the new addition to the Galaxy Series is the signature S Pen, which now has Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) support.

It now goes beyond being a stylus for your Note. It can be your ultimate remote control. Play and pause your YouTube videos. Capture snap in Snapchat. Flip through slides on your PowerPoint presentation. You can even use the S Pen to control said slides when you’re doing a global presentation. The BLE functionality has opened up a wide range of opportunities, which Samsung acknowledges through the availability of its SDK said to come in September 2018.

While the Galaxy Note series is predominantly known for its creative and productivity features, Samsung is notably going towards gearing the newly launched Galaxy Note 9 as a mobile gaming device.

Noting that mobile gaming has grown in popularity the last few years, Samsung has developed its Water Carbon cooling system and an on-device AI-based performance adjusting algorithm to deliver powerful yet stable performance. In addition, the Galaxy Note 9 houses a super powerful, cutting-edge 10nm processor: the Samsung Exynos 9810. The gaming experience is further complemented by its AKG-tuned stereo speakers.

In conjunction with the launch of the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung has also partnered with Epic Games to bring its massively popular Fortnite: Battle Royale game to Android. The Fortnite Android Beta is available for registration starting this week, with Samsung users being the first to have access to it. The Beta is currently exclusively for Samsung users, with more devices added into the list later on.

The Galaxy Note 9 comes in two model variants: 128GB internal storage with 6GB RAM and 512GB internal storage with 8GB RAM. Both models can support an external MicroSD storage of up to 512GB.

There are three out of four colourways currently being offered in Malaysia, namely Midnight Black, Metallic Copper and Ocean Blue. A noteworthy factor to consider is that the high-end model (512GB) only comes in Midnight Black.

We were expecting for the contrasting S Pen to be available for each of the colour way, however only the Ocean Blue comes equipped with a distinct Yellow S Pen – which we have dubbed as the Dory (from Finding Nemo) Galaxy Note 9.

The Galaxy Note 9 will be available starting 24 August 2018 in Malaysia, priced at RM3,699 and RM4,599 for the 128GB and 512GB variants respectively.

To celebrate its launch in Malaysia, Samsung Malaysia Electronics also announces a limited-time pre-order promotion for Malaysians. From 10 to 19 August 2018, customers who pre-order 512GB Galaxy Note 9 will receive a complimentary Gear Sports, Gear Sport Strap and Wireless Charger Pad worth RM1,531. Meanwhile, for customers who pre-order 128GB Galaxy Note9 will receive a complimentary Gear Sports worth RM1,219.
