OKI Printers Receive MyHijau Green Certification

OKI Data has successfully achieved Malaysia’s Green Recognition Scheme, MyHIJAU Certificate for its eco-friendly printers and multifunction printers that help to preserve and conserve the environment. Goh Yin Hwang, Country Manager for OKi Data Malaysia representative office was on hand to receive the award.

The announcement came in conjunction with Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Green Day 2017 celebration in Pulapol. OKI’s printers and MFPs have not only achieved Energy Star 2.0 and Blue Angel certification, but also MyHIJAU Certificate, initiated by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), an organisation under the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), that promotes green products and services.

Mono printers that are certified as green products include B412dn, B431dn+, B432dn, B512dn and B731dnw; the colour printers are C531dn, C532dn, C612dn, C712dn, C833dn and C911dn. In addition, multifunction printers includes MB492dn, MC363dn and MC573dn have been certified under MyHIJAU as well.

The LED technology in OKI printers and MFP’s generates ample light on very little power in order to save energy. This technology reduces the amount of plastic used in printers but also makes them more compact in size.  The duplex printing function of the printers reduces paper usage and the toner saving function reduces toner consumption to lessen the impact on the environment.

The sleep mode function has contributed to its green efforts by reducing energy consumption when the printers are not in operation, which helps to save energy. Each new model features quiet mode for reduced noise and energy consumption, along with fast recovery from deep sleep mode, an energy saving feature that consumes far less energy than other current industry alternatives. As print speed is correlated with energy consumption, the micro-capsule toner used in OKI printer and MFP helps to limit and reduce energy consumption substantially compared to conventional toner.

OKI green products are designed to separate the toner from the drum, which have different replacement schedules. This fully utilise the lifespan of each components to reduce waste caused by throwing out drums that could still be used. With lengthened lifespan of its components, parts that go to waste are reduced and designs that were created to simplify disassembly and reuse can help to save resources and conserve global resources as well.

Working towards a greener environment, PDRM is taking the initiative by using eco-friendly and green products from OKI Data. In addition, PDRM is OKI Data’s biggest installed base in the region.

“Our range of printers and MFPs are eco-friendly and cost- effective; these performance-led devices help to preserve and conserve the environment,” With the MyHIJAU certificates, OKI hopes to set a benchmark for others to make a better choice for the environment,” adds Goh Yin Hwang.
