Barely five years since its debut and Wiko is still creating waves of good impressions; indeed, it’s more of the same at Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018) where Wiko ramps up innovation once more. All these improvements are part of the keynote announcement that the French smartphone maker arranged for Barcelona’s yearly main-event.

For Wiko, the goal has always been about democratising new technology and advanced innovations. This mission receives due emphasis at Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018) via Wiko’s brand-new smartphones.

As such, the next-gen entries will sport high-spec design and features, like FullView Display and dual camera array.

Powered Flagships

Let’s first focus on the Wiko View2 Collection. Beyond the most obvious physical changes, Wiko took next-gen display concept one step up the innovation ladder. Unlike other flagship entries, the Wiko View2 and View2 Pro – both top-tier entries, use a 19:9 ratio display. That’s not all, the two also sport a 16-Megapixels front camera that sits dead centre, where the earpiece would be.

Of course, there are differences between the Wiko View2 and View2 Pro. With the former, it rocks a 4-inch HD+ display; 16-Megapixels rear-facing snapper; and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage configuration. As for the latter, it features a 6-inch HD+ screen; two 16-Megapixels back-mounted cameras; and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage setup.

Mid-range Entries

Besides these two new flagships, Wiko also rolled out three mid-range entries for t he Wiko View line-up. The trio – Wiko View Lite, Go, and Max – come with an 18:9 display and respective settings that reflect their names.

For the Wiko View Lite, paired with its 5.45-inch HD+ screen is a 16-Megapixels front camera and 13-Megapixels rear shooter. The Wiko View Go rocks a 5.7-inch HD+ screen with 13-Megapixels back camera and 5-Megapixels front snapper. Specs wise, both run on a Quad-Core 1.3GHz mobile CPU with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage; there is support for 128GB memory expansion as well. Both run on a 3,000mAh battery.

As for the Wiko View Max, underneath the 5.99-inch HD+ screen is a Quad-Core 1.3GHz processor; it comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Having the word Max in its name, it’s obvious the battery amperage is larger – 4,000mAh to be exact.

All of the new Wiko View devices come with Android 8.0 Oreo installed.

Staying Affordably Light

Keeping to the theme, which is ‘Wiko ramps up innovation’, its more affordable range has a couple of updates too. Indeed, the Wiko Y-Series has three new entries appearing at MWC 2018 as well.

First up: the Wiko tommy3. Of the three, this is the most versatile as it offers balanced specs. This include the 5.45-inch FWVGA+ IPS display with 8-Megapixels and 5-Megapixels rear/front camera array.

Next: the Wiko lenny5. It comes with a larger 5.7-inch HD+ panel and a dual-speaker configuration. This is definitely for users who need an enriched multimedia experience.

Last, but not least: the Wiko jerry3. This is the most essential of the three, featuring a 5.45-inch FWVGA+ screen with 5-Megapixels front and rear camera configuration.

All three come with Android 8.0 Oreo (Go Edition) just so it can maintain their optimised performance.

There is no doubt that Wiko is looking to make itself stand-out more as it keeps to its theme. Seeing how Wiko ramps up innovation for the affordable smart device space, there is certainly room for market growth still.
