Yesterday PC.com posted Celcoms Merdeka First RM48 Plan, today we look at Maxis with their RM48 postpaid MaxisGo Plan.
Lets place them side by side for their main offerings on the package alone, the MaxisGo Plan provides 100 minute voice and 100 sms compared to just 60 from Celcom for both the services, a ladder climbing 40% more by Maxis. We will have to hand this to the green operator for sure.
No interestingly though Maxis allows all postpaid, existing postpaid on other plans, corporates and even prepaid users to register for the plan, foreigners on the other hand will need to cough out RM500 for deposit though. As for voice and sms, after exeeding the packaged offer will be at RM0.15 and RM0.10 pay per use tariff respectively, whereas the blue coloured operator charges a flat rate of RM0.20 for both and for users they only permit the plan for new registrants. Despite a bane for foreigners, Maxis thumps this one with the cheaper charges and plan for all deal.
Its About Data Isnt It?
Data is increasigly becoming a primary factor for users in choosing their plans, it is this aspect of the offers that determines which operator is a worthy choice. In this case both mobile operators are offering 2GB within the package, allow us to digress a bit. So what can you do with 2GB? The net offer some answers! You can stream 82 hours of music or post about 5000 selfies on your facebook and maybe even watch about 7 hours of HD streaming videos they all require 2GB each.
Back to the regular program, with Celcom you could do any of the above anytime of the day as long as you do it within the one month stipulated period. But there is sneaky catch with the MaxisGo Plan, the terms on the plan states 1GB can be used anytime of the day whereas the second 1GB has to be from 2am till 7am! Looks like Maxis is targeting shift workers, security guards and vampires who will need high speed internet to waze the night skies.
Consumers are incresingly savvy, social apps has funtions that makes voice and sms redundant and many are aware of this, given there are pockets of society still require the services but surely they are decreasing. Maxis has healthy coverage and good 4G LTE speed, if it want consumers experince their amazing network, they should stop low balling and refrain from applying absurd terms and conditions.
