LG Electronics recently hosted its annual innovations at the LG Convention 2016 here in KL, themed ‘Future of Home’, the convention was a replica of its showcase in Korea PC.com Malaysia had the privilege to attend. Overview of the convention played up to three innovations the company was pushing namely the LG 4K OLED TV, LG TWIN Washer and LG CordZero series.

OLED Push
The OLED technology has been in existence for awhile but has yet to take off in a big scale on large screen displays, mainly due to the high cost factor, however LG wants to own the space as it believes the future of TV will be on this technology. Currently leading in the segment, the new LG 4K OLED TV offers high dynamic range (HDR), infinite contrast ratio and comes in a much slimmer design. It recently won the coveted Innovation Award in CES 2016 for its superior display, making it a must-have feature in every living room.
Colours tend to be more realistic on an OLED, the technology enhancement provides extremely robust lifelike pictures resulting in white being really whitish and the darkest of blacks making it ideal for HDR and Dolby Vision viewing.
Different from the conventional LCD displays whereby the LED backlight locally dims the entire sections of the screen, 4K OLED on the other hand has self-lighting pixel technology which enables each pixel on an OLED panel to switch on and off independently resulting in crisp, vibrant colors and shadow details, even when bright objects are directly next to deep, dark areas.
Complete with the company’s unique Picture-on-Glass concept- a technology introduced for the first time in this market – the LG 4K OLED TV exudes an aura of class and sophistication while bridging the gap between modern trends and timeless style. The LG TV sustains itself on a strikingly elegant stand, which also comes with an integrated Sound Bar speaker by Harmon/Kardon.
The LG Convention 2016 also featured other innovations namely Twin Load Washing machines, Cord Zero vacuum cleaners, SUPER UHD TV, home speakers, refrigerators, top load and bottom load washing machines, air conditioner, dishwashers and other appliances.
