Intel Tries To Integrate Wearables Into Paris Fashion Week. Results Confusing

We’ve seen so many big names try and fail at bringing wearables to the mainstream, and now it seems Intel wants to count themselves in too. At the 2016 Paris Fashion Week, the company experimented with designer Hussein Chalayan to incorporate technology to his Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

Did the experiment work out well? Well, with fashion it’s always difficult to tell.

But just consider this photo.

Here, the glasses are connected to a belt which has an Intel Compute Stick and a Pico projector. This complicated set up is supposed to capture biometric data and project ther wearer’s stress level onto a wall. It just doesn’t seem like a very plausible use case scenario for wearables. If anything, it’s going to discourage the movement by making it seem pointless and needlessly complex.

We liked Spectacles by Snap because of how simple and accessible the device was. Intel ought to know by now that even something as small and amazing as the Compute Stick just doesn’t have the right interface for the human body.
