Huawei’s Phone Production Reportedly Paused By Foxconn

Huawei has been through the ringer as of late, especially with being ‘banned’ and shunned by mostly everybody. The entity list set by the US has caused many companies to cut ties with the Chinese company. Mainly, listing that Huawei is somehow connected to the Chinese government, Military, and Intelligence agencies. Some of the companies of note, are Google, Qualcomm, Corning, and ARM who designs their Huawei’s Kirin chipsets. But even so, Huawei is trying to overcome these problems with their own in-house software and is working with Aptoide to work out a PlayStore replacement.

And now, new information from TechCrunch is reporting that Foxconn has stopped manufacturing Huawei’s devices, which spells further trouble for the manufacturer. According to reports, Huawei were the one that instructed Foxconn to reduce the number of devices it builds. If true, it means Huawei is aware that demand for its products is decreasing. With that, this seems to indicate that the company’s efforts to reassure customers about solutions, aren’t convincing enough. Even with the 90 day reprieve given to Huawei, they haven’t provided a clear plan for when the ‘ban’ comes into effect.

This might very well be the end for Huawei’s reign. They might be able to bounce back, but at the very least, not for awhile. The conflict between China and the US is only escalating, as Beijing are now threatening to retaliate by blacklisting American companies and depriving the country of critical resources. But with talks now opening, there might be a way out soon. Because at the end of the day, this isn’t good for anyone. This is probably going to affect all of us in some way, so let’s hope for a resolution soon.
