On Monday, we reported that Huawei was set to be banned by Google from using their services, apps, and basically anything Android. This is probably going to cause some issues for customers around the world, because they’ll have no access to Google. No Gmail, no YouTube, nothing. So yeah, it seems like there’s something to be worried about with this news going around. But now, the U.S. have delayed Huawei’s expulsion out of the country for 90 days with a temporary general license, which is valid until 19th August.

This was set so that Huawei will be able to purchase American-made goods “in order to maintain existing networks and provide software updates to existing Huawei handsets” according to a Reuters report. They will however, still be prohibited from buying American parts and components to manufacture new products with license approvals.

The new authorisation is intended to give telecom operators that rely on Huawei equipment time to make other arrangements, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said in a statement. So the fact that the there’s been a delay, shows how far Huawei’s presence reaches. There are plenty of implementations of their tech worldwide, and it seems the U.S. is realising that there could be unforeseen consequences to the ban. Considering that Huawei is ‘unbanned’ until August 19th, maybe China and U.S. will be able to work out a trade plan, and end all this after all.
