Huawei has officially announced the date for the Mate 20 series launch. It will be happening this 16 October 2018 in London, England. The successor to last year’s Huawei Mate 10 family is expected to feature the company’s latest silicon and a slew of updated features.
Thanks to a post on Huawei’s official twitter account, we now know that London is the launch location for the Mate 20, and it will be in the middle of October. The post shows Big Ben in a smartphone outline – possibly hinting that the phone will have an edge-to-edge display.

The new Huawei Mate 20 will feature the new HiSilicon Kirin 980, which was recently announced at IFA 2018. The new SoC will be made using the new 7nm process. This allows the Kirin 980 to pack 6.9 billion transistors within a 1cm2 die size. This is up 1.6 times from the previous generation SoC. According to Huawei, the 7nm process delivers 20% improved SoC performance. It also delivers 40% more SoC efficiency.
Other expected feature of the Mate 20 includes triple cameras ala P20 Pro, an in-screen finger scanner and also following tradition, a massive battery to power the new smartphone.
