Grab passengers can now choose to enjoy Astro Radio brands during their rides

Grab Malaysia’s latest in app feature allows passengers in the Klang Valley to pick and choose their entertainment from a range of ten Astro Radio brands when they book a ride, all via the Grab app. The initiative aims to provide a new, enhanced user experience for passengers who hop on selected Grab cars. From Hitz.fm to ERA and even  RAAGA, they have a station for whatever your palette prefers.

But will anyone actually opt to utilize the feature?

I personally book a grab for the sole purpose of getting from point A to point B. As soon as I book a Grab, i leave the app and try my utmost best to spend as little time on it as I can (I try my best to save battery ok!). Once in the car, I plug in my earphones and turn to my favourite app of all time, Spotify. All my favourite songs at the tip of my fingers. Sheer bliss! I understand that some people actually enjoy listening to Malaysian channels, but with the only bearable radio station being BFM (and even then you’re still bombarded with a slew of cringe worthy ads), I can only think of one situation in which I will be using this function.

Goodbye to loud headache inducing music

Every now and then, I find myself out of the house and without my earphones (which in my world, is nothing short of a disaster). So when I book a Grab, I am forced to listen to whatever it is he or she is playing. Being the shy, introverted guy that I am, I often find myself in situations where the driver is playing thrash techno that make me feel like its 2010 again and i’m stuck in a club with no exit.

So for all the soft spoken introverts who have been a victim of your Grab drivers horrendous taste in music, this one is for you!
