Samsung Gear VR Consumer Version Now Available Priced Approx. RM450 ($99)

Its official, Samsung Electronics has finally announced of its commercial roll-out for the virtual reality wearable, Gear VR. In partnership with Oculus, Samsung showcased this awesome device end-December 2014 and had many in anticipation for the availability of the wearable device, after about 20 month wait, consumers can soon see them on shop shelves. The announcement included the compatibility of smartphones with the Gear VR which includes the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, S6 and S6 edge, leveraging each device’s super Amoled display to provide the color, clarity and performance needed for the virtual reality experience.

What has changed it that the Samsung Gear VR is 22 percent lighter than previous Gear VR Innovator Edition, and includes new foam cushioning to make the device more comfortable to wear. In addition, the Gear VR’s touchpad has been improved, providing greater control while enjoying the robust selection of film, gaming, 360 degree video and experiential content available for Gear VR. Users can start watching Netflix streams over the VR with Twitch, Hulu and Vimeo to follow suit, facebooks newly launched 360-degree videos will also be compatible with the device. Having tried the device at the Galaxy S6 launch here in KL this year, teamPC.com was floored with the visual effects rendered, playing Temple Run was a knee wobbling affair, offering us a completely immersed in into the game. Cant wait to get one into the office!
