Final Fantasy XIV’s Behemoth Comes to Monster Hunter World in August

You may have heard of the Monster Hunter World x Final Fantasy XIV crossover when Square Enix teased a Rathalos fight back in June. On Capcom’s side, things were a little quiet, but the developer finally shares a good look at its own piece of the collaboration. Monster Hunter World’s Behemoth quest comes begins on 1st August 2018.

The quest is meant for players at Hunter Rank 16 or higher, and will remain as a permanent addition to the game. Remarkably, the Behemoth stays true to its Final Fantasy rendition. Every now and again, this ferocious beast will rain down explosive meteors on hunters. This sounds like a hectic time, so make sure you’re prepared to clear this fight within the 35-minute time limit.

That’s not all Capcom is adding to the game, however. Aside from the Behemoth fight, there are also Cactuar traps, as well as a Moogle armour set for your little cat Palico. Fans of the Dragoon class get the most out of this update, though. A complete equipment set reminiscent of the artifact armour from FFXIV: Heavensward makes its way to the game. The set includes the Drachen armour set, Gae Bolg Insect Glaive, and Dragon Soul Kinsect.

You’ll be able to enjoy all of these new FFXIV-themed updates on 1st August 2018. One week later, Monster Hunter World will also finally launch on PC.

The interesting part about this fight is that the Behemoth behaves a little differently from other monsters. Like in FFXIV, there’s an aggro mechanic here, which allows players to divert the boss’ attention away from allies. For FFXIV veterans who go on raids regularly, the Behemoth’s ability to wipe an entire party after a certain phase may also be familiar.

While we already know the date for Monster Hunter World’s Behemoth quest, Square Enix has yet to reveal the release date for its Monster Hunter quest in FFXIV, which features the deadly Rathalos. It’s likely that the company is giving us a chance to tackle the Behemoth in Capcom’s game first before ramping things up in FFXIV. If you’ve been away from either of these games for a while, there’s surely no better time to dive back into both.
