Donald Trump Trumped; Anthony Fauci Weighs In On US Presidents Conspiracy Theory

Donald Trump Trumped

As US president Donald Trump ramps up on the narrative that China is responsible for the coronavirus, the head of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and the guy who is probably the single most prominent doctor in the world at the moment (behind Dr Meredith Grey of course), Dr Anthony Fauci, has poured cold water on Trump’s parade.

After initially praising Xi Jinping’s handling of the coronavirus, Trump seems to have settled on playing the blame game, with his insistence that the virus originated in a lab in Wuhan, China. The past couple of weeks especially, has seen him claiming that he has evidence that suggested this, but has thus far not given anything to indicate he is right.

In an interview with National Geographic on Monday night, Dr. Fauci was absolute in his assessment of the virus origins.

“If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what’s out there now, [the scientific evidence] is very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated … Everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped species.”

In other words, Trump’s claim that the virus originated in a lab is pretty much baseless. It’s not really much of a headache on who you should be siding with here. Between the two, only one is an expert on infectious diseases.

If you’re still not convinced, Fauci isn’t the only expert that disagrees with Trump. Allied nations and even the US very own Intelligence Community concur that there’s a high chance that the virus did not originate in a lab. Still, that’s not stopping Trump and his inner circle from pointing the finger at China.

The only possible explanation for Trump being right and the smartest people in the world being wrong is that he knows something that we don’t.

But let’s be real here, when has Trump ever missed out on the chance to prove all the haters wrong? Never. He keeps insisting he’s not allowed to tell us why he thinks what he does but odds are, he’s just looking for somewhere to deflect the blame, and who better than China, right?
