Intel wants the industry to be more diverse. Thoughts?

Intel Corp had much to say in CES 2015, such as Broadwell for example. But Intel was also there to talk about its own take on wearables, and the future of computing with the devices we use today. The chipset maker announced the Intel Curie module, a tiny hardware intended for wearables; new apps for Intel RealSense cameras to cater to robots, flying copter drones and 3D immersion; and finally, the “Diversity in Technology”, a 300 million US Dollar initiative to encourage… well, diversity in the technology industry.

Intel’s CEO Brian Krzanich believes that all the new computing experiences, connected devices (likely referring to IoT), and the rise of wearables are changing the relationship between us consumers with technology. This is why diversity in technology is an idea Intel supports, and he goes on to add, “Our goal with Intel technology is to help solve real problems and enable experiences that are truly desired by people and businesses. In order to do this, we must also do more to lead the growth of diversity and inclusion within the technology industry. Women and under-represented minorities will continue to play a greater role as consumers, influencers, creators and leaders.”

Krzanich also revealed a wearable at the keynote address, a product created with the help of eyewear brand Oakley, a 3-D collaboration with HP, as well as a cross-platform security app called True Key.
