As CES, is a place for the latest in technological innovations and advancements to happen, it also saw the release of the first-ever LG 4K UHD projector. The LG HU80KA is also the winner of the CES 2018 ‘Best of Innovation’ Award, which future cements LG’s place as one of the leading innovators in the industry.
Right off the bat, LG makes heads turn with the design of the HU80KA 4K UHD projector. Instead of adopting the traditional bulky and heavy design, LG decides to downsize the size of its 4K UHD projector. This allows the HU80KA to be half the size of other 4K projectors in the market without compromising on picture quality. It also means its portable, allowing for easier movement if you don’t want it restricted in one space.
It’s upright design is definitely different from many flat-based projectors we’ve seen, most of which maintain a similar shape, build and structure. It takes the approach of a mirror-less I-shaped design, allowing it to stand on a much smaller footprint than usual. Due to its size and shape, it can project in a number of ways – hang it on the wall, the ceiling or just leave it standing as it is. LG has also been kind enough to include a carrying handle with an Auto Cord feature, meaning you can bring this projector to just about anywhere.
The HU80KA is capable of projecting a 150-inch screen with 2,500 lumens, making it LG’s brightest projector to date. To sweeten the deal, LG also adds high dynamic range (HDR) support at HDR 10 for a mesmerising home cinematic experience. It will also feature two 7W speakers to deliver audio output, eliminating the need for external speakers. Of course, if you already have an external sound system or soundbar in place, it can be connected to the projector via HDMI, optical output or wireless Bluetooth.
You can also connect the projector to various devices like a mouse and keyboard. This gives you easier 4K content navigation with the webOS 3.5 smart TV interface. LG also provides connectivity ports in the form of USB, HDMI and Ethernet ports.
