Moving into the space of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning, LG introduces its own AI development platform, DeepThinQ 1.0 at CES 2018. This roll out will increase LG’s efforts in quickening the release of new products equipped with the latest technology across LG’s business units.
LG’s Artificial Intelligence Lab in Korea are the brains behind DeepThinQ 1.0, which enables smooth integration of AI into its wide range of products. This will also allow LG product developers to apple deep learning capabilities into its future plans. The DeepThinQ 1.0 platform boasts a variety of functions like voice, video, sensor and spatial recognition, alongside human body detection as well.
Designed as an open technology, DeepThinQ 1.0 supports three different operating systems, mainly Android, Linux and webOS. This will look to further advance the collaboration and innovation of future technologies. With the utilisation of cloud servers, the LG DeepThinQ 1.0 platform will get smarter over time, being able to learn and understand from external environments, as well as customer’s behavioural patterns.
One such example falls to LG’s air conditioners, which can learn and analyse the living patterns of its customers over time, thus allowing itself to understand and automatically keep the room cool, based on an occupant’s preference. LG is looking to implement its DeepThinQ technology into automobiles as well with its cabin monitoring technology. It learns the facial expressions and gestures of the driver, which then translates to being able to recognise when the driver is feeling drowsy.
Over time, LG’s automobile DeepThinQ technology will also be able to adjust the music, lighting and climate within the cabin by learning more about the passengers who are most often in the car.
Of course, the DeepThinQ 1.0 technology is already in place, specifically in Korea’s Incheon’s International Airport, with LG’s CLOi airport guide robots. These robots house sophisticated ambient noise technology that improves voice recognition, allowing them to better serve travellers.
