The ASUS train isn’t stopping as it releases new ASUS Mini PC entries. This includes the ASUS PB40 and PN40 Mini PCs alongside its latest ASUS Chromebox 3 and ASUS Tinker Board S. This latest line-up of small form factor PCs offers compactness and versatility for a wide variety of usages. This, being ASUS, comes with zero compromise on performance or quality.
ASUS PB40 Mini PC
The more powerful of the two ASUS Mini PC units, the ASUS PB40 promises uncompromising performance with support up to latest 8th Generation Intel Pentium Silver processor. There are two variants to the ASUS PB40 – the Intel N5000 Quad-Core and the Intel J5005 Quad-Core. The former clocks up to 2.7GHz while the later can run up to 2.8GHz.
Even in its compact form, the ASUS PB40 features a fan-less design with Intel Celeron processors. This allows it to operate silently and discreetly without providing any distractions or noise. Connectivity isn’t an issue with the ASUS PB40 as it comes with six USB 3.1 Generation 1 Type-C ports and an ultra-flexible I/O port with VGA/DP/COM/HDMI support. It will also support optional stackable modules for components like optical drives.
ASUS PN40 Mini PC
On the lower-scale is the ASUS PN40. It comes in two flavours: Intel 8th Generation Pentium Silver and Celeron processors. It also rocks an easy-assembly design, coming with a sliding bottom case design. Weighing at just 700g, the Intel PN40 also houses plenty of ports, mainly a USB 3.1 Generation 1 Type-C and a changeable I/O port for VGA or COM support.
ASUS Chromebox 3
The latest addition to the ASUS Chromebox family, this new entry houses an Intel 8th Generation Core processor with DDR4-2400 memory. This gives it speedy and smooth performance while being highly energy-efficient. While natively supporting Google Play, the ASUS Chromebox 3 also sports a USB 3.1 Generation 1 Type-C port and a DisplayPort.
ASUS Tinker Board S
For tech aficionados with a penchant for to tinker about, the new ASUS Tinker Board S is most ideal. It features a new Qualcomm Cortex-A17 Quad-Core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMc storage. However, it will still retain the same board size and component placement as the original Tinker Board.
On display at CES 2018, the ASUS Tinker Board S showed capable performance through its memory and I/O speed when it came to image recognition applications. It can also improve home entertainment through its 192KHz audio output and support for digital-to-analog converter (DAC) add-on cards.
