Big Three Mobile Providers Go Big with Huawei

The big three mobile providers in Malaysia – Maxis, Celcom and Digi currently have mobile plans that pair up with the Huawei Mate 20 series. The weekend saw long queues and crowds at the three roadshow locations in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Penang.

It’s clear that the Mate 20 series is a big hit with consumers especially since it brings mobile photography to a new level. While not the first to come out with triple cameras, since Samsung released their triple camera A7 and quad camera A9 a week before, Huawei is the first to release a flagship-grade model with Leica-based lens triple camera.

Here’s a round-up of the big three and their Mate 20 plans.

Maxis offers the Mate 20 Pro with their MaxisOne plan (boosted with Zerolution360), at three tiers of usage – the 128, 158 and 188 plans. These come with 20GB, 50GB and 60GB of internet quota respectively. Free calls are across the board and each come with their own individual share lines. Interestingly, whichever plan you choose, you only need to pay RM125 extra for the phone (and RM10 for Zerolution360 boost).

Celcom only has the RM105 plan for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and the plan supports up to 100GB of internet quota. Celcom is also throwing in some freebies like the Huawei Talkband B5 (released with the Mate 20 series) worth RM699. For Platinum Plus Plans, Celcom will throw in a UE Boom 2 speaker worth RM725. The freebies are only while stocks last.

And finally, Digi is offering the Mate 20 (not Pro) version for only RM1 with the Postpaid 190 plan. If you want the Mate 20 Pro, you will have to cough up RM2,159 upfront and subscribe to the Postpaid 190 plan.
