After countless rumours and speculation, Apple finally launched their second generation iPhone SE yesterday. The main appeal of the announcement and this particular iPhone, is its price. The iPhone SE (2020) starts at RM1999, which is pretty damn affordable for an iPhone considering the processor its packing: the A13 Bionic chip.

This is the same chip that powers the iPhone 11 lineup, so it’s quite an upgrade from the iPhone 8 body it’s housed in. But another attribute that seems to add on to its affordability seems to be their RAM and battery capabilities.

According to a reseller in China, the iPhone SE (2020) comes with 3GB of RAM, and reportedly, 1821mAh battery, the same capacity as the iPhone 8. This added to the smaller 4.7″ display and single rear camera, it’s no wonder Apple could price this device the way they have. Though for now, we can’t assure the information is accurate, but it seems like a very ‘Apple’ thing to do.

But then again, Apple is known for their software optimisation so their devices always run smoothly, even on lower RAM specs or battery capacities. To me though, 1821mAh is waaay too low for modern standards.

Let’s wait and see someone online like iFixit, or JerryRigEverything teardown the phone, before we jump to any conclusions. Either way, the newly refurbished iPhone SE 2020, surely does look to offer great value for that RM1999 price tag. How it performs in reality though, remains to be seen.
