Apple released the iPhone SE in 2016 and it was a success back then as it put forth one last device in the iPhone 5 form factor, with upgraded specs. It sort of was like passing the torch over to the new iPhone 6 standard design, and now they’re doing it again with the iPhone SE2 / iPhone 9. There’s been a bunch of leaks and rumours of late, but the all the leaked thus far have pointed to an introduction sometime during the first quarter of this year.
Notorious leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) has said that Apple is set to reveal the device sometime in mid-March. But considering we’re still confused as to whether it’ll be called the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2, means there’s still a lot we don’t know about the device. Other leaks have described the device as having a iPhone 8 body, with the bezels as well as the physical Touch ID home button. Which is in line with what they did with the original iPhone SE, so that’s not that surprising.
Other rumours indicate it’ll have an A13 Bionic chipset, 3GB of RAM, 64/128GB variants and a single rear cam setup. The price is rumoured to be $399 (RM~1650), which is actually pretty great if it’s true. It’s not going to replace the XR, but it’s still something that I think would garner quite a bit of attention.
But let us know in the comments if you’d be interested in an iPhone SE 2. Would you get one?
