The Google-less Huawei Mate 30 Series Arrives On Malaysian Shores; Pro Version Priced At RM3899

The much talked about Huawei Mate 30 Pro has finally arrived in Malaysia! Believe it or not, Malaysia is the first country after China to announce the arrival of the device. To affirm its commitment to its customers, Huawei is looking to reward the most loyal mate series users by making the device available to them first via the Exclusive Ownership Campaign, which is set to start on the 3rd of October.

The top of the line in the series, the Mate 30 Pro, features top of the line hardware such as the camera setup that sports two 40 MP camera sensors, an 8MP telephoto lens and a 3D depth sensing camera.

The devices also come with Huawei’s latest chipset, the kirin 990, which is arguably the best android chipset in the market right now. Pair that with the first ever touch enabled volume buttons, a 4200mAh battery and WIRELESS supercharge technology and it would seem that the phone has the complete package.

Here’s the caveat though, you won’t be able to download Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram or Netflix. In fact, as you probably already know, the phone doesn’t come with any Google apps whatsoever. Thus far every effort to circumvent the US ban has failed. There were some third party apps that successfully managed to get around it only to be shut down by Google. Unless Huawei opens up its bootloader to third parties, which they’ve stated is a security risk in the past, the future of the Mate 30 Series anywhere outside of China looks extremely bleak.

Now, the whole situation is rather ironic. Piggybacking off the might of China helped Huawei get as far as they have, but its association with the country is also the very reason their best device ever won’t sell as well as it could’ve. I mean of course, there’s also the fact that Huawei are sketchy af, but so are most companies, they just haven’t got caught.

After getting my hands on with the device, I can’t help but to feel a bit sad. The device really does look and feel as good as it does on specsheets. Huawei may have just came up with THE Android phone here. Its a real shame but I guess it just goes to show that no one can ever really run away from their past
