Say what you want about virtual reality, but latest figures show that the market is slowly but surely warming up to it. Whether Oculus, HTC or Samsung – every man and his dog has been looking to VR development whether hardware or software.
While most companies are playing on the safe side, giving modest estimates of how popular VR might be, Sony recently announced that PlayStation VR has just reached one million units sold. That has far surpassed the creators’ initial prediction.
According to BGR, the solid sales run has been attributed to the PlayStation VR’s relatively low price ($399) in comparison to that of the Oculus Rift ($499 + $99 for controllers) and HTC Vive ($799).
This is probably helped along with the fact that PS4 Pro is currently the favourite over rival Xbox One. There has been a good dose of VR content featured for the console as well, since the launch of PSVR.
