Most of you have probably already received the latest Facebook for desktop layout, and if you’re one of the (many) people that opted to switch back to the classic layout because for whatever reason, you’re in for some pretty bad news. Starting September, the “new” Facebook layout is going to be the only Facebook layout.
The revamped layout was actually teased about a year ago, and ever since May, it’s become the default layout for desktop users. That being said, Facebook gave users the option to opt back to the “Classic” layout but starting next month we’re all just going to have to deal with the new Twitter styled layout.
Gone is Facebook’s iconic blue hue and according to designers and engineers, the reasoning behind the new look is simple. Facebook’s shift in focus to become a more mobile first platform meant that its website design was largely neglected.
The “Classic” Facebook design has looked dated for a couple of years now and the the New Facebook’ reflects the changing role of desktop computing. Personally, I’m not a fan of the new layout but I do admit that the “Classic” layout was in desperate need of a revamp.. I’m just not exactly a fan of how the revamp went.
