Xiaomi today announced Redmi Note 9S, their latest mid-range smartphone is coming to Malaysia. Sales start from 27th March 2020 and the Redmi Note 9S will be available in Malaysia starting from RM 799 but there will be flash sales where the device will go for RM 699.
Performance and Battery

The Redmi Note 9S is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset, consisting of an octa-core CPU with a 2.3Ghz maximum clock speed, Adreno 618 GPU and 8nm process technology. It also is the first smartphone in the Redmi Note lineup to feature a Z-axis linear vibration motor, which enables faster acceleration, which results in better haptic feedback.
Powering the device is a massive 5020mAh high-capacity battery, and a 18W fast charging, with a 22.5W charger in the box. Safe to say if you were looking for a phone with a huge battery, decent specs to get you through the day, for just RM799? The Redmi Note 9S is looking to be a worthy contender.
Build Quality and Display

The Redmi Note 9S features a new, notch-free design with a kinda weird square-shaped camera layout. But actually, I kinda dig it, it looks less so intrusive than the other one’s I’ve seen so far. More compact I guess? Anyway, there’s no in-display fingerprint sensor, but they do make up for it with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, which doubles as a power button.
The display is a 6.67″ FHD+ DotDisplay, and is actually Redmi Note’s first-ever in-display front camera. This helps to boost the 91% screen-to-body ratio on the device. On both the front and rear of the device, there’s a splash-proof nano coating and Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Camera Setup

The Redmi Note 9S features a quad camera setup on the back with a 48MP main lens, and a 1/2″ sensor for ultra-high-resolution day photos. There’s also a 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor to complement the 48MP main shooter.
On the front, right smack dab in the middle, there’s a 16MP lens for the in-display selfie camera. Overall, not a bad setup when you take into consideration the price of these devices.
