Xiaomi have announced the global online launch for the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9. They also announced an all-new Mi Smart Standing Fan 1C, so it’ll keep you cool for the summer. Thought that’s just a fan, so we’ll mainly be talking about the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9.
Redmi Note 9 Pro

Display & Design
Redmi Note 9 Pro features notch-free 6.67” 2400×1080 resolution DotDisplay. It also features a 20:9 aspect ratio. The Note 9 Pro also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an all-new front camera module design, with a centered punch-hole cutout.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro is available in three dynamic color options – Interstellar Grey, Tropical Green, and Glacier White.
Camera
For their cameras, the Redmi Note 9 Pro sports a quad-camera setup on the rear with a 64MP main lens. It also comes equipped with an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, 5MP macro lens and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the phone comes with a 16MP in-display camera for selfies and slow-motion videos.
Battery
Packing a rather large 5020mAh battery, Redmi Note 9 Pro holds enough power to last until the next day while keep a slimmer form factor. The device also offers 30W fast charging which is Redmi Note Series’fastest-ever charging speed, with an in-box 33W fast charger that can charge up to 57% in just 30 minutes.
Processors
With the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor and up to 2.3GHz, Redmi Note 9 Pro offers what they call a ‘flagship-level’ experience. Built with 8nm process technology, the device delivers better performance while maintaining power efficiency.
Redmi Note 9 Pro also sports a z-axis linear vibration motor for a more balanced user experience. The z-axis linear vibration creates 120 vibration effects depending on the user’s action, including different vibrations for photos, screenshots, notifications, clock settings and more.

Display & Features
Redmi Note 9 flaunts an all-new look with a 6.53” DotDisplay protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front. Redmi Note 9 users can choose from three colors to appease any style, including Midnight Grey, Forest Green, Polar White.
Both Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 feature an array of other fan-favorite features, including multi-functional NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IR blaster. These devices also come with the TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification for long-lasting eye comfort, and splash-proof nano coating for accidental spills.
Camera
The Redmi Note 9 comes packing with a quad camera setup consisting of a 48MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, 2MP macro lens and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the smartphones comes with a 13MP in-display selfie camera, with the cutout placed at the top left hand corner.
Battery
Redmi Note 9 includes a 5020mAh battery with 18W fast charging support which makes for a bigger battery, but with a slower charge speed. But considering the price, I’m willing to over look the compromise.
Processors
Under the hood, Redmi Note 9 has a MediaTek Helio G85 processor making it the world’s first smartphone to feature the new chipset. It also consists of a 2x A75 2.0GHz, 6x A55 1.8GHz CPU and an ARM G52 MC2 with roughly 1000MHz and a Manhattan 3.0 GPU at around 25 fps.
Pricing and Availability
Redmi Note 9 Pro comes in two variants: 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB, at a recommended retail price of USD 269 (~RM1150) and USD 299((~RM1280) respectively.
Redmi Note 9 has two variants: 3GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB, at a recommended retail price of USD 199(~RM850) and USD 249(~RM1070) respectively.
Xiaomi did mention that these prices are the recommended prices for the global launch, and prices will be adjust to fit the market. They also mention that both the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro will be available in Malaysia in mid-May.
