Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyddin in his maiden Labour Day speech declared that all eateries across the nation can now operate as usual from May 4. However he reminded owners to follow strictly on the guidelines provided by the government.

As Malaysia sees the fight against Covid 19 being successfully handled by the health officials, front liners and the citizens in self restraint, the Movement Control Order which began on March 18 is slowly being eased. Food outlets were restricted to take away and pick up service only during the MCO, operation time was also limited to until 8pm. Effective May 4 they will be allowed to function as before but will to set their table layout a bit different.

Most operators are glad this is over and are more that happy to adhere to follow the conditions. The new guideline will require restaurants to allow up to three persons per table depending on the size. For small shops with small tables, its recommended just one customer per table. Floor layout will have to be redesigned, spaces is required for people to move around freely. Leave the walkway through the shops enlarged.

Before entering the premise, customers will have to record down their names and contact, have temperature checked and ensure they wear their masks. Premise owners must provide hand sanitisers and keep the place constantly cleaned.
