If you’re a fan of the game World of Warcraft, then you might have been counting the days till the movie version of the game comes out in June 2016. For the time being, here’s a sneak peek at the upoming movie from Legendary Pictures.
The film is based on Blizzard’s massively multiplayer online role-playing game. It is the most popular MMORPG in the world with over 100 million accounts being created over its lifetime. It was even featured in my favourite TV show, the Big Bang Theory and that’s basically how I know what the game is all about.
The movie poster shows two warring factions: the orcish Horde and the human Alliance. The movie will set in normally peaceful realm of Azeroth where Orc warriors invaded it to flee from their dying home. The leader of the Horde Ogrim is played by Fantastic Four’s Dr. Doom, Toby Kebbel and the Alliance’s champion is played by Vikings star, Travis Fimmel.
Its director, Duncan Jones, David Bowie’s son, said that it will not be a straightforward good vs evil kind of story. Both sides will have a protagonist that audience can side with.
We have seen many games-turned-movies failure like Mario Bros, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Annihilation. Fans are all waiting patiently to see if they’re going to be delighted or disappointed. The original date of release was in December 2015 but it was pushed back to June 2016 to avoid the release of STAR WARS: The Force Awakens.
