The usually media shy founder and chairman of Huawei, Ren Zhengfei in a an exclusive interview with BBC gave a candid overview about the current state affairs his company is facing in US and Europe.

From a military officer to build the largest telecommunication networking company in the world, Zhengfai is a much respected man in China, his business policy of giving every employee a share in the company and his humble nature does very little to profile him as an undercover agent for the Chinese secret service. But this is what president Trump has alleging his company of doing, to the fact that his daughter the Chief Financial Officer of the company was arrested in Canada and is waiting extradition to US. However the Chairman believes these moves are politically motivated and will leave it to the courts to settle the issue. He also asserted that US will not scare nor crush their ambitions, Huawei has done nothing wrong, China has not asked to install any spyware or backdoor in the systems to steal information, if so he said he will shut the company down himself.

US with the President primarily has gone on road shows asking European allies to stop using Huawei and completely ban the telco in the country. Germany, UK, Australia and Japan have already heeded the call with New Zealand now mulling on stopping the use. With 5G rollout at its final stage, Huawei which is at the forefront will see a major setback with cutbacks already being made by some of the EU countries. Zhengfai admits the current predicament will affect the company financially as orders are reduced but does feel confident that they will prevail and come out stronger.
