WhatsApp’s Dark Mode Now Rolling Out Of Beta To All Users; Heres How To Activate It

After many months of being in beta, WhatsApp’s dark mode is finally getting wide release to Android and iOS. The updates for the feature will roll out on both platforms within a few days, so keep a look out for it.

I really don’t know why it took them so long to do it when it seemed fairly simple enough, but maybe there’s something I’m missing out. Even Facebook Messenger got a dark mode waaaay long ago, so considering WhatsApp is owned by Facebook as well, hard to fathom what took them so long.

You’ll be able to activate dark mode on Apple devices only if you’re running iOS 13. Android 10 users can enable it via the system settings, and Android 9 users will have to manually enable it within WhatsApp’s settings. Go to WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Theme > select ‘Dark’.

And that’s it! The long awaited feature is finally here. Why it takes that long to figure it out, I’ll never know. But at least WhatsApp won’t blind me everytine I turn it on late at night anymore.
