Back in 2012 at CES, the Samsung Smart Window was the hype of the event, with the video of the Minority Report style smart window being uploaded multiple times on YouTube and talked about on social media. But now, what happened to it? Is it still in production? Or still in pre-production?

Firstly, the window is a transparent touch-screen 46 inch TV and the resolution is 1366 x 768 as reported. There is a virtual blinds that users can pull down to block out light from outside, just like a real window. It is also said to be a one way mirror, meaning you won’t have to be afraid of passersby seeing what’s on your screen, they’ll only see themselves. The display uses ambient light in the day and uses flipped colours during the night.

At the moment, there’s no news yet of when this product will be released and how much it will cost. Could be, the current commercial display used in malls and retail uses the technology from the Smart Window, but nevertheless looks like Sammy has dropped the commercial idea and moved on to bigger things like IOT and defending the mobile turf.
