Don’t mess with Eric Dier
Losses are never easy to take, especially if you lose on penalties. Top this off with all the heckling that goes on in football and it makes taking an ‘L’ all the more difficult. In spite of these difficulties however, as a professional, one should always keep cool. Don’t tell that to Eric Dier though.
The Tottenham utility man wasn’t in the best of moods after his team crashed out of the FA Cup on Penalties, to bottom of the league Norwich no less, and actually rushed into the stands to confront his own supporters following the shootout. Dier seemed hell bent on getting to one fan in particular and the videos that are circulating on social media don’t exactly paint the England international in the best light.

Speculation that the spurs man was defending his teammate appear to be inaccurate and the “brother” he was referring to in one of the videos is his actual brother, who can be seen being ushered away along with Eric Dier by the stewards.
Given his reaction, you just can’t help but to wonder what exactly was said to rile Dier up that much. Speaking to media after the game, Spurs manager Jose Mourinho suggested that while it was unprofessional, Dier was defending a family member and “did something that every one of us would do.”
“I cannot run away from the question and I think Eric Dier did something that we professionals cannot but, in these circumstances, something that every one of us would do,”
“When someone insults you and your family is there, and your family gets involved with the person that is insulting you, in this case your younger brother, I think Eric did what we professionals cannot.
“But, I repeat, probably every one of us would do. I am with the player and understand the player.”

In spite of what the Tottenham manager thinks of his players actions, Eric Dier will surely be heavily punished for his antics by both the FA and Tottenham themselves. The potential loss of Dier will be a huge blow to Spurs, who have now lost 4 games in a row and have been rather toothless since the loss of Captain Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min to injury.
