vivo X20 Plus UD Features In-Display Fingerprint Sensor; Takes Innovation Lead

While most predictions bet on it, no one foresaw the vivo X20 Plus UD taking the lead with brand-new features. Indeed, after Full Display and 18:9 ratio, an In-Display Embedded Fingerprint Scanner is the next-gen function many are expecting.

Nobody would’ve thought it would be vivo that got it right the first time.

vivo managed to get this far thanks to its collaboration with Synaptics, the US-based sensor maker. The result is a proper fingerprint scanner, specifically the Clear ID 9500, directly usable underneath the 6-inch display. OLED HD+ to be exact.

Interestingly, while this is a vivo flagship, it does not use the best-in-class specs. The main driver is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. For camera optics, it uses a 12+5MP f/1.8 shooter in the rear and a 12MP snapper upfront.

Those not used to the In-Display Fingerprint Scanner can opt for the Face Wake security function instead. Indeed, it’s a facial recognition option.

The vivo X20 Plus UD, which comes with a 3,800mAh battery and Android 7.1.1, will go on sale in China at end-January 2018. It’ll be priced at RMB3598 (~RM2,143).
